Update and Conversation about the Transforming Education Theme of the 2016-2020 University Strategic Plan

A core mission in the academy is teaching and learning. We all have an unwavering commitment to improve student learning and success through outstanding teaching. However, across higher education, there are many changes and innovations impacting this critical mission and process, including reducing time and cost to degree, emerging digital innovations that both advance and challenge the practice of teaching, and expectations to prepare students for an evolving and changing twenty-first century work force. To help Penn State not only respond, but to provide leadership in addressing these emerging forces, one of the five strategic priorities of our Strategic Plan focuses on the Transformation of Education. Please join us to hear an update regarding the priorities of the Transforming Education Steering Committee, but more importantly, to engage in a dialogue to help inform this important work. A panel featuring the co-chairs of two of the Transforming Education Working Groups will seed the conversation: Tom Litzinger, Research on Educational Transformation, and Larry Boggess, Faculty Development Resources
